Four Work Values That I Live By

If you’ve worked with me before, you’ve probably heard me share one (if not all) of these work values before. When beginning my work as as solopreneur, these ideas quickly became an anchor for not only my work but my life. I say them often because I believe in their value.

I discovered them at various stages of my career – listening to podcasts, working with clients, reading books. Take a moment to read why I love them so much below. Even better, think about what your top 4 are!

At times, I often feel yelled at by marketing gurus and experts. It can easily become overwhelming and I find it to be off putting. Putting together a list of work values has helped clarify my approach to the work. In addition, by sharing what you value to the world, you will most likely attract those who are curious or agree with you. So good.

Less, but better

This idea was developed as a concept by Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer who was a firm believer in functionalism. I believe in this idea as both a life philosophy and approach to marketing. There was also a book written on this topic called Essentialism, The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Good, Better, Best

This can apply to sooooo much! A project, workout regime, website development. When a situation seems daunting, I take a side step and consider:

  • What does good look like here? Better?

  • What’s the best case scenario?

  • What are some time frames for each?

This will transform the way you work.

It’s better for something to be slightly imperfect, than to perfectly procrastinate.

This is some of the best advice I’ve ever received.Have you been working on a project that is ready to be birthed? Have you been laboring over it for too long? Let it go! Odds are it’s good to go, you can probably refine later if need be.

Lastly, and most definitely my favorite…

You Are Enough

As long as you know you are enough, no one can ever tell you that you’re not. Do you. Follow your bliss.
