About Joe Basile
I’m deeply inspired by the idea of less, but better. This idea was developed as a concept by Dieter Rams, a German industrial designer who was a firm believer in functionalism. I believe in this idea as both a life philosophy and approach to marketing and business. To read more about four work values that I live by, click here.
I grew up in the suburbs of New York City in the 80s. My childhood and teenage years were void of the internet and social media. I liked sugar cereals, Cabbage Patch Kids, Saturday morning cartoons and Cyndi Lauper (yes, more than Madonna). My family would spend our Sundays driving and exploring new neighborhoods and attending open houses which sparked my appreciation for architecture and interior design.
I had a passion for theatre growing up and after graduating from The Theatre School at DePaul University, most of my 20s were devoted to the world of theatre-making in both Chicago and New York City. During this time, I worked on my craft to write, perform, direct, and collaborate on plays with a passionate and highly creative group of artists.
Shortly after, I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and earned a degree in Marketing and Advertising Communications and leaped into the world of non-profit arts management and audience development.
Somewhere in the middle of all this I went to massage school and practiced massage at the Chopra Center and Spa founded by self-help guru Deepak Chopra. I learned about Ayurveda, self-care, meditation, and the mind-body connection before it was a buzz phrase.
With a diverse background in theatre, wellness, and marketing, I created Go Humphrey Marketing Solutions. Based in Los Angeles, I create highly-customized marketing strategies for service based businesses.
